Symptoms

• Unable to migrate or import MySQL 8 databases to a Plesk server with MariaDB installed:

  ERROR 1273 (HY000) at line 25: Unknown collation: 'utf8mb4_0900_ai_ci'

Cause

MariaDB does not support collation: 'utf8mb4_0900_ai_ci'.

Resolution

Prepare target server with MySQL 8.0 instead
