Question
How to migrate to Plesk?
Answer
It is possible to migrate directly to the latest Plesk version from:
- any older Plesk versions
- other control panels
- any other hosting environment
Migration options depending on Plesk versions are listed in the below table:
Migration source | Method |
Plesk 8.6 and newer versions | Migration via Plesk Migrator extension |
Other control panels supported for migration using Plesk GUI | Migration via Plesk Migrator extension |
Other control panels supported for migration using Plesk CLI | Migration with assistance |
Plesk < 8.6 and other control panels | Custom migration For Linux For Windows |
If the control panel being migrated is in the list of the panels supported for migration using Plesk GUI, the migration can be initiated from Plesk on the target server after installing the Plesk Migrator extension.
The list of the panels supported for migration using Plesk GUI:
• cPanel 11.5
• Confixx 3.3
• Helm 3
• Expand 2.3.2 (migration via CLI)
• Pro Control Panel 10.3.6
• DirectAdmin 1.51
If the control panel is not in the list above, the migration option is not shown in Plesk GUI. In such a case, the migration is also possible but it should be done using a script that generates a description of the source server’s hosting objects in YAML/JSON format (For Linux / For Windows). For these types of migrations, migration with assistance is recommended.
Any migration to Plesk process can be represented with 7 steps. Details of each step can be found in the Migration Process Guide:
