Learn to Update with Plesk WP Toolkit Course
Thanks to the WP Toolkit Course, you can now deploy and secure your sites swiftly with our WP Toolkit Extension. So let’s move on the to next part – updates.
How to safely update your WordPress website
1. First, go to the Websites & Domains screen in Plesk and click the “Update” link in the WordPress sub-section.
2. Before the update, WP Toolkit will offer to create a restore point. You can roll back to this point if something goes wrong.
3. You can then start the update.
4. And finally, verify that your website is working fine.
If something went wrong, roll back to the restore point. Otherwise, you can remove the restore point.
Important! The WP Toolkit creates restore points only when you manually update a single WordPress Website. So you can’t create restore points for automatic and mass updates.
Applying changes to the production website
1. Updating all WordPress websites at once
Click “Update all” on top of the “WordPress” screen in Plesk.
Remember! When you update multiple WordPress sites at once, you can’t create restore points so you won’t be able to roll-back if something goes wrong. Hence why we strongly recommend that you create a full server backup before running the update.
2. Keeping WordPress websites up-to-date
Simply enable auto-updates. We recommend auto-updating to minor versions (example, 4.8.2 to 4.8.3) and manually updating to major new releases (example, 4.8 to 4.9). That way, you’ll be able to create a restore point.
